Eating disorders are of constant interest to the media, but we have a duty of care to those we support. In 2011 we drew up a set of Media Guidelines to encourage more balanced and responsible reporting of eating disorders in the media.
The most powerful voice in raising awareness is that of those affected – whether it be the individuals themselves, their partner, family or friends. Sign up to volunteer and help spread the true story of eating disorders.

Our team of media volunteers are people based across the country who have experience of an eating disorder and have expressed an interest in sharing their story with the media. If you’re looking for a personal story to accompany your article, please contact the press office.
The media has the power to both break down and reinforce stigma and misunderstanding of eating disorders. If something you’ve seen or heard has upset you don’t be afraid to make your voice heard.
