Beat thanks supporters for raising £742,413

On behalf of Beat and our service users, we would like to say a big thank you to our fantastic fundraisers and donors for raising £742,413 over the past year. This has meant that even more people have been supported through Beat’s Helpline services.

Whether you made a one off or regular donation, were one of Beat’s 307 runners or 87 skydivers, or raised funds in any other way, you have made a huge difference to ending the pain, suffering and loss of life caused by eating disorders.

Beat has been able to support 28,732* people thanks to the kind generosity of our supporters and donors who have helped fund the charity’s work. Together, you have enabled us to reach 11,000* more people affected by eating disorders via phone, email, webchat, training in schools and peer-to-peer coaching.

“I really just want to thank you for your support. It’s kept me going. Please keep doing what you’re doing because it is such a great relief to know we’re not alone in this.” Email feedback from Helpline user

Echo, the charity’s pioneering new telephone coaching programme, is another great example of how people like you can shape the future at Beat. The programme was developed and funded by Nick, a parent of a sufferer who approached Beat with an innovative solution to help families in crisis.  Nick raised the funds to launch the programme which pairs those currently caring for someone with an eating disorder with others who have been there before and have come through the other side. This peer-to-peer programme has since been commissioned in Scotland, Norfolk and Sussex.

Beat is hoping to expand the Echo programme so that it is available in more areas and for partners and siblings. Likewise, the charity has ambitions to support and empower 40,000 people next year and to run a 24-hour Helpline, eventually supporting 100,000 per year.

“Three years into my recovery I still owe my life to Beat. If it wasn’t for that initial call to the Helpline, I really don’t know where I would be now.” Beat Helpline user
