The sum was raised in a matched funding campaign - which means that for each pound our supporters donated, our charitable partners contributed the same amount.
The initial target for matched donations was £50,000, but we managed to secure an extra £25,000 thanks to the generosity of our charitable partners. This brought the total amount to £153,922.
We would like to extend our most sincere thanks to all who donated: whether you made a one-time donation, fundraised in your community on our behalf or are one of our wonderful partners.
Your kindness allows us to continue to do everything we can to assist them and their loved ones through our helpline, workshops and other services.
One Helpline caller said: “Sitting here now knowing I am three years in recovery, I owe my life to Beat. If it wasn’t for the helpline and making that initial call, I really don’t know where I would be now.”
Beat’s Chief Executive, Andrew Radford said: “We are incredibly pleased to have been able to raise £153,922, enabling us to continue to provide crucial support to those affected by eating disorders. This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our wonderful charitable partners and all of those who generously donated. We are enormously grateful for your continued support.
As the UK’s eating disorder charity, we know just how devastating eating disorders can be. They have a severe impact on quality of life, and eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. Anyone can be affected, regardless of age, gender or background.
Our national Helpline exists to encourage and empower people to get help quickly, significantly improving their chances of recovery. People can contact us online, by phone or by live chat. Our vital work provides life-changing support, keeps families together and reduces suffering. None of it would be possible without your support.
