We’re delighted to have received positive responses from both Wes Streeting, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, in Westminster and Eluned Morgan, First Minister of Wales, in the Senedd regarding our latest report, 'There's No Place Like Home', on intensive community and day treatments for eating disorders. In Westminster, Edward Argar, Shadow Health Secretary, raised the need for better access to these vital treatments, and Wes reaffirmed his commitment to improving care and engaging with Beat on addressing service gaps.
In Wales, Eluned Morgan outlined the Welsh Government’s plans to improve early intervention for eating disorders and prevent the need for inpatient care, while continuing to support Beat’s vital work. This is an important step forward for eating disorder treatment and support across the UK, and we’re excited to keep pushing for better access to services that allow people to stay within their home environment while receiving the care they need. We have written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting, following his invitation to receive representation from Beat.
