It’s Volunteers’ Week! From giving talks and interviews on their personal experience, to advising on our responses to policy proposals, to reviewing the content we publish, the work volunteers do is essential to Beat.

Clinical Commissioning Groups in England increased their spending on children and young people’s community eating disorder services by just £1.1m in 2019/20, despite having received an extra £11 million in funding for these services, a new report has found.

Women Work has chosen Beat as their charity for their 2018 event, which will take place on Friday 20 April at Salomons Estate, in Tunbridge Wells.

It takes almost three years, on average, between the onset of someone’s eating disorder and the point they seek help. Difficulty recognising their symptoms are those of an eating disorder and lack of understanding & awareness in wider society means it can be hard for people to get treatment.

Researchers at KCL have developed an online training programme designed to provide information, skills & support to carers of people with anorexia.
