Step Out

Eating disorders affect countless lives but, with the right treatment and support, recovery is possible. On Monday 2 June it’s World Eating Disorder Action Day, we’re asking you to Step Out on a walk in support of those facing their own struggles and in hope that together we can make a difference.

When: Saturday 31 May – Sunday 8 June 2025

We’ll be walking together on World Eating Disorder Action Day on Monday 2 June. Can’t join that day? You can step out with your friends and family any day between Saturday 31 May and Sunday 8 June.

Steps to Take Part:

Why not consider wearing something in a shade of purple, Beat’s colour, as part of your walk? Don’t forget to order any materials you’d like to use to promote your plans, we’ve got balloons and flags you could take with you and literature you could hand out to help raise awareness.

Interested in participating in Step Out? Share your details via our form and we’ll be in touch

How You Can Make an Impact:

  • Raise Awareness: Use your walk as a chance to talk about your reason for taking part. Engage with and share our social media posts for this campaign, even if you can’t take part yourself. You may help us reach someone who doesn’t know about us yet.
  • Make a Donation: If you can donate, your contribution can help provide comfort and support to those who are in need. If you want to take it one step further, set up a fundraising page to share your story and raise money at the same time.
  • Setting up a JustGiving page is a great place to start your fundraising journey. You can start receiving donations straight away by setting up your Just Giving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/stepout2025 .Simply click on the orange "Start Fundraising" button to start creating your own JustGiving page. The process should be easy as it follows a step-by-step guide, but let me know if you need any help along the way.

If you want to add something extra to your walk, why not download our nature checklist, it might help keep the young and young at heart walking that bit further!

Not able to join Step Out? Any donation you make allows us to support more people affected by eating disorders.

We want you to have fun and stay safe so it's important to choose a fundraising activity that is right for you. If that’s not a walk, why not look at our A-Z for an alternative fundraising activity.
It’s especially important that you choose an appropriate fundraising activity if you have previous experience of an eating disorder or are in recovery.

Before planning your fundraising activity, please ensure that you read our Fundraising Guidelines.
